Digify adds "SnapChat" function for Gmail
‘Track & unsend’ Chrome extension gives Gmail users full control of email attachments after they are sent
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. and SINGAPORE, June 7, 2016 – Digify, a secure multi-platform file sending service, today announced the launch of its free Chrome extension “Digify for Gmail”, making it possible for Gmail users to track and unsend email attachments. Through the extension, users can also apply Digify’s popular self-destruct timer to attachments.
“Digify for Gmail” is integrated directly into Gmail, allowing users to track and unsend the file if necessary, from inside the Gmail/Chrome interface. Digify helps to save Gmail users time in eliminating uncertainty on whether a file has been opened, or not, and whether it has been forwarded. It also gives the assurance that wrong information is not out there forever, by giving the sender the option to “unsend” it. Unlike Gmail’s email unsend, which is only valid for up to 30 seconds, Digify’s unsend option is valid anytime.
“When people sent attachments in the past, they were releasing their content out there forever,” said Augustine Lim, Founder and CEO of Digify. “Digify for Gmail lets the sender stay in control of their attachments, by keeping them informed on what’s happening to their content. It also gives them the freedom to unsend files anytime if they are sent by mistake.”
Today, Gmail has over 1 billion active users and 5 million businesses on the service. Digify for Gmail enhances lifetime security and control of attachments sent with Gmail, so that people can easily know when their files are opened, who viewed them, and how many times they are accessed. With Digify, users have the ability to set attachments to ‘self destruct’ after opening, and unsend attachments any time if they change their minds or sent the wrong file.

These new tracking and unsend features for Gmail are powered by the Digify platform, which lets users copy protect their files such that it cannot be copied or downloaded. When a file is unsent, the recipient will no longer be able to access the file within seconds, regardless if the file is still open at the moment.
In sending a file attachment with Digify, Gmail users can simply attach a file from the Gmail Compose window in Chrome by clicking the red Digify for Gmail button. Digify’s popular self-destruct feature is also available for use. File tracking statistics can be accessed within Gmail via a new “track and unsend anytime” button within the interface. Recipients will only need to click an embedded link in the email to view the file on the web.
An example on how Digify for Gmail can be used: Digify helps salespeople close more deals with prospects. If a proposal file has not been read, the sender can remind the prospect. When the file is opened, Digify’s instant email and mobile notifications help the sender follow up at the right time with the optimal approach. The amount of time the recipient spent on the file helps the sender gauge the level of interest in the content. The salesperson can also gather more leads when the file is forwarded, or unsend if it is at risk of falling into the hands of competitors.
“We aim to provide an alternative to the regular Gmail attachment button. With the new red Digify for Gmail button, we are making it as easy for Gmail users to attach files, yet they can retain control over what happens to their email attachments even after they’ve hit send. People spend hours creating proposals and content, but didn’t know whether they had been read. Now Gmail users can share files easily and worry-free, know who’s reading, and unsend them anytime, for any reason,” added Lim.
Basic tracking, unsend and self-destruct features are available for free to all Gmail users. Paid users have access to the full range of Digify’s advanced security options. Users can easily decide who and how people should access their content, and prevent the file from falling into the wrong hands. Paid advanced features include restricted forwarding, additional encryption, stricter copy protection, expiry and self-destruct timers. Screenshots are discouraged by the company’s patent-pending movable watermark technology. Real screenshot protection is also part of Digify’s unique “secret mode”, which requires an app download for file viewing.
For non-Gmail users, these features are also available on Digify’s web and mobile apps.

By default, all file attachments sent via Digify chrome extension are tracked. Users can easily attach files right into their messages using the red Digify for Gmail button inside Gmail’s Compose window; while they can use the new “Track & Unsend Anytime” button in Gmail interface to see the statistics or even unshare a file even after it’s already been sent.
With Digify for Gmail, users can track and unsend their files even after sending. The freemium service ensures that users can stay in control of their files effortlessly at all times.
Other than tracking and unsending, files shared using Digify for Gmail can be copy protected such that they are not downloaded, copied, saved or uploaded elsewhere. Files can be set to expire or self-destruct.
Digify’s copy protection technology protects content against copying, printing and downloads. Digify’s patent pending adaptive watermarking technology helps deter screenshots. Additional security options are also available to restrict access and control forwarding of attachments.
Other than Digify for Gmail, Digify is also available on the web, iOS and Android.
